Date:

The German supplier Continental wants to remove further areas with a view to the crisis in the car industry. Towards the end of 2026, 3000 jobs worldwide must be eliminated in development and research, including 1450 in Germany. Hessen and Bavaria are mainly affected. The Nuremberg location must be completely closed.

With the now announced 3000 jobs, the number increases to more than 10,000. Continental justified the renewed dismantling with the intensifying situation of the car industry.
  • 220 Developer -jobs must be again eliminated at the largest automobile location in Frankfurt with 4,000 employees. Conti had already removed hundreds of jobs there last year. There are just as many in Babenhausen in Hesse with around 1800 employees. According to the company, the closure of the technical location of Nuremberg 140 employees concerns.
  • About ten percent of the 31,000 developer positions so far must be eliminated worldwide. The aim is to reduce the costs for research to less than ten percent of sales by 2027.

Head of the board council: “No sustainable future strategy”
Sharp criticism came from the employee. “We are very concerned that the deep cuts in the car research and development will extend to an extensive clear cut,” says Michael Iglhaut, head of the company.

“Reduction and cost reductions at all costs” are not a sustainable future strategy. The “searched bleeding of the German locations” weakens the division that Continental wants to illuminate this year in independence.
