The German supplier Continental wants to remove further areas with a view to the crisis in the car industry. Towards the end of 2026, 3000 jobs worldwide must be eliminated in development and research, including 1450 in Germany. Hessen and Bavaria are mainly affected. The Nuremberg location must be completely closed.
- Continental had already announced a year ago to remove 7150 positions in the Automotive Division, including 5400 in the administration and in 1750. This is now implemented to 80 to 90 percent. With the now announced 3000 jobs, the number increases to more than 10,000. Continental justified the renewed dismantling with the intensifying situation of the car industry.
- 220 Developer -jobs must be again eliminated at the largest automobile location in Frankfurt with 4,000 employees. Conti had already removed hundreds of jobs there last year.
