There are fewer and fewer breweries in Germany. In the past five years, their number has fallen by 93 to 1459, including many traditional houses.
A trend that ran for many years is reversed, which was mainly due to traditional beer and the start -up golf that was generated by it.
- In absolute numbers, the decline in Bavaria has been the most powerful with a minus of 50 brewing sites. However, the free state, with 598, also has by far the most breweries. With regard to eight percent, the decrease is higher than the national value of six percent.
- This is followed by North Rhine-Westfalen, where there are 24 breweries, Hessen with a minus of 14 breweries. Given a lower number of breweries, the relative there falls much higher by 15 and 16 percent.
