US President Donald Trump continues to believe that he can tame the “unfair” world trade with his customs club and fight inflation in his country. The head of state is not interested in the fact that the whole thing can be counterproductive – in the form of higher prices for car buyers in the United States.
“I don’t care,” he said on Saturday in an interview with the American broadcaster NBC News. The customs tasks on cars and car parts that were made abroad would give up the factories in the US and lead to an increase in sale.
“I hope you increase your prices, because if you do, people will buy cars from American production,” Trump told the TV station. On April 2, American rates will take effect on certain consumer goods and cars from abroad. They are part of Trump’s efforts to promote American production and to reduce the trade deficit of the country.
Consultant explains Trump’s statements
After the interview was broadcast, a Consultant Trump moved to emphasize that the Republican had mainly meant foreign brands. The government representative defeated the fact that the rates could also prove to be a boomerang for American car manufacturers because of the global supply chains.
