In the aftermath of the last inflation data for March, which showed an inflation of 2.9 percent for the previous year, the Chamber of Labor again compared the prices of the cheapest food.
Juice and coffee more expensive
Depending on the product, there is an inflation of up to 72 percent within a year, on average ten percent. Many cheapest prices have been “exorbitant” since 2021. Sana juice was 142 percent more expensive, bean coffee was 126 percent.
- The 40 cheapest food and cleaning products of weekly needs were compared in seven Viennese supermarkets (Billa Plus, Spar, Interspar) and at Dispters (Hofer, Lidl, Penny) in three Viennese branches in March 2025. “Consumers have to use the wallet as deeply as never before,” says it.
- A shopping basket with 40 cheapest food and cleaning products cost almost 81 euros in March 2025- In March 2024 it was 73.27 euros. That is an increase of 10.1 percent.
