With the construction of production in Vitis, the “Brute Growth” course, as director Stefan Pollmann explains the “Krone”. The work, which was not opened until 2020 and at that time, must now be closed again towards the end of the year, because this enormous growth had not existed, says the head of the 137 -year -old family group.
To join forces all on the boat
The desired enormous growth was missing. That is why the closure will now follow as a well-investigated step towards the end of 2025. Pollmann emphasizes that it was very important to involve employee and interest representatives in advance. Everyone would consider it the only right one. You will do it to guarantee high economic stability in the future and therefore bundle the production capacities. “This is the only economic and strategically sensible step,” the director explains.
“Operation on the open heart”
The head office of the Global Automotive supplier is also located in the Waldviertel – in Karlstein on Thaya, just 25 kilometers away. 71 employees have the chance to commit to the main location. However, 15 jobs are canceled there. “Simply Pollmann” is the new leading principle with which all business areas are checked, structures must be questioned and processes must be reset.
In Vitis, it is currently made 24 hours a day. The use is between 50 and 60 percent. According to Pollmann, around 55 percent is also the use at the much larger main location in Karlstein, where you can now move production. However, this happens during the series production, which is the same as an “open heart surgery”, as the entrepreneur emphasizes.
Pandemie or the war in Europe had influenced economic success, but the decision to build the factory in Vitis, which was taken years before Corona, was wrong from today’s perspective.
Large number in the automotive sector
Pollmann produces high -quality mechanics and other developments for the car industry and has works in the Czech Republic, Mexico and China. Before the turn of the Millennium it was proud that a Pollmann mechanism was installed in every third car in Europe with a sliding roof. Large extensions to Mexico and China followed.
In 2024, global annual turnover amounted to around 165 million euros. 550 of the 1300 employees are currently working in the Waldviertel. Even today the focus is on solar roof and door lock mechanics. The company also contributes to innovative developments for autonomous driving, consumption optimization and electromobility.
“Half of all new questions come in for electromobility. A lot is happening in this area. These new projects will be in the series in two or three years and will only be noticeable,” offers the company boss views.
Future for state -van -the -Art work insecure
How the state -of -te -art continues in vitis is still open. So the latest technology, especially in the warehouse, is installed there. It is uncertain whether you are building something new together with another company in a new area or the factory.
