The American manufacturer of electric cars Tesla sold considerably fewer cars in Europe in April. The section in Sweden even fell by 80.7 percent, as shown from data from Friday. In the Netherlands, the decrease was 73.8 percent, 33 percent in Portugal.
In Denmark and France, fewer than half as many vehicles were sold as it was a year ago. In Norway, sales increased by 11.8 percent. Among other things, plays a role in the decrease that the company is getting more and more competition from established car manufacturers such as Volkswagen and through newcomers from China such as BYD.
“With its current product range, Tesla has largely lost its technological progress,” says Andy Leyland, co-founder of the Supply Chain Specialist SC Insights. The company of Elon Musk is currently launching a new version of its customer model Y. The vehicle can be ordered on many European markets, but will only be transferred to customers in June.
Musk’s politics is alienated
Musk’s support for US President Donald Trump encounters sharp criticism. Many customers have therefore reduced their backs, especially in Europe and California. In a survey, 59 percent said that because of the activities of Musks they would not buy Tesla.
