This year’s family business Salzburg is expanding with a milk product to eight Asian countries. South America should follow next year. Because the market in Austria is quite saturated, you promise a lot of growth internationally.
A mix of cream and gelatin is used all over the world. The producer of the “Quick Milk”, Salzburg Family Company Qimiq, which was founded in the 1990s, is producer of the “Quick Milk”. Qimiq is used as a fairly low alternative during cooking.
Textualization of the sale by 2030
Baas Rudolf Haindl expects a lot of growth for the coming years. “By 2030 we want our turnover more than triple up to 50 million euros.” The export share must rise to 80 percent. Thanks to the expansion in distant corners of the world, this should succeed. Corona has cost the growth of the company in recent years, originally you wanted to start expanding earlier, now the Salzburg company begins. The price increases were also a problem recently, prices rose by a maximum of 40 percent last year.
The company is family property and has always set up money by crowdfunding. Haindl is planning to transfer the company to the next generation in the coming years.
Qimiq has been represented in Tasmania with a production site since last year and wants to absorb sales in Asia in Australia: “We are coming to eight new markets this year,” said Haindl. This includes Thailand, the Philippines, Vietnam or Malaysia. The popularity of baked products such as cakes and cakes increases the demand for cooking and baking lines and dairy products in Asia.
Expansion to South America
But the potential is also high elsewhere, before 2026 Haindl is expanded to South America. “We are already represented in the Caribbean, but other countries are also interesting for us,” said the entrepreneur. Important customers for the company based on Salzburg are also cruise companies that use the good -durable milk product in their kitchens.
In Mexico, large hotel chains in turn belong to the customers. In the retail trade, Qimiq is only on the shelves in Switzerland and Austria, sometimes also in Australia. Another license partner is in Japan, where the market is made there. The second most important market for Qimiq in Austria is currently the United States. By the way, it is produced for the American market in Italy with a partner there.
Haindl also sees a lot of potential in vegan products. This is not only due to lifestyle trends, but also has religious backgrounds. In Asia products with beef gelatin often sell less well, Qimiq also responds to this.
