At least for e-bikes that cost thousands of euros, a very good bicycle lock is indispensable. The upper Austria of the Chamber of Labor (AK) has therefore attacked 23 models with a bolt cutter (suitable for steel up to 18 mm). Five security devices.
Depending on the preference, there are two chain locks (Trelock LC 680, AXA Procarat PC105), two ironing models (ABI’s Granite Extreme, Kryptonite new Yorl -Slot) and the Frame Slot Abus Granit X that could not be cut. In the other test objects, Kraken was just between six and 74 seconds.
A total of 23 models were investigated. They cost between five and 152 euros. The price/performance winner of the Labor Chamber was the cable lock Fischer Pro Line. It is fairly light (446 grams), costs less than 25 euros and took 68 seconds. It is also easy to use and offers good weather protection.
Cooperation with vehicle -related
To test safety security, the AK worked with a car expert. A bolt cutter available on the market was used, which is 90 centimeters long and is suitable for materials with a maximum diameter of a maximum of 18 millimeters. A possible dust jacket was cut open with a knife.
To protect against theft, the AK advises to connect the bicycle with fixed, property for objects such as trees, traffic signs or lanterns and to attach the lock so that it is as difficult as possible to reach the tools. Overnight bikes must be placed in a basement or a garage and also locked up. Owners must also write down all essential functions such as the frame number and special functions to be able to describe the wheel in detail in the event of theft.
