The educational leave has already fallen and the extra space for the unemployed must be seriously limited. How did the upper Austrians record that? We asked AMS-OÖ director Iris Schmidt.
This was discussed for a long time, when it suddenly went very quickly – at the end of March the educational leave and the part – time education was temporarily abolished. “Education is crucial for our business location, but educational leave was a time-out and not a training model for many,” confirmed the Minister of Economy Wolfgang Hattmannsdorferer the decision of the federal government.
“There was a huge number of questions”
How did the Upper Austrians record the incision? “Then suddenly there were no massive applications in the phase before the abolition, but there were a huge number of questions,” says Iris Schmidt. Who had questions here? “They mainly came from those who had planned the educational leave after 1 April and where there had been no request, but who just considered it,” said the director of the labor market service in Upper Austria.
To the question “How are you?” If the AMS cannot really give an answer at the moment: “We currently know no more than that from January 2026, there will probably be a new educational leave.” In the case of advice, the possibility of the listed listed list is now the target. “If it doesn’t work, you have to tolerate something new.”
Also announced: with a few exceptions, the extra space for unemployment must also fall. “Although you have to say that there is still much unclear, if it comes exactly and how it should be,” says Schmidt.
