At least 1.3 million oil and gas heaters in operation
According to the latest survey from Statistics Austria, 1.3 million fossil oil and gas heaters are still the most important heating system in Austria. Most gas heaters are therefore available in Vienna. There is also the majority of heat production for households with district heating (59 percent) with natural gas. According to the Austrian Biomass Association, the fall in gas heating was recently only three percent. The number of oil boilers, on the other hand, halved in the last 20 years.
District Heating Taken
670,000 households had wooden central heating, 590,000 a heat pump in the last survey. Accordingly, the district heating connection is used the most. With around 1.33 million, this barely caught up with the oil and gas heaters. In the past 20 years, the number of district heating users in Austria has more than doubled. The majority of the district heating generated in this country is based on biomass.
