Cool weather helped – EVN increased by 25 % by 25 % in the first half of the year

Date:

The aforementioned lower Austrian energy supplier EVN In the first half of the financial year 2024/25, moderately increased sales and increased the result by about a quarter, the EVN announced on Monday. The provider mainly benefited from the cooler temperatures.

This increased the sale of the distribution society and EVN heat. In the six months, sales increased by 6.6 percent to EUR 1.73 billion, the result increased by 25.7 percent to EUR 250.6 million.

The generation of electricity was 10.2 percent below the value of the previous year in the first half of 2024/25. The EVN further expanded the area of renewable energy, but its production fell by 18.4 percent to 1212 GWH. The supplier increased the production capacity of wind energy by 22.2 MW to around 500 MW and that of photovoltaïschens with 12.5 MWp to more than 100 MWp.

For this purpose, thermal production increased by 29.7 percent to 397 g as a result, the proportion of renewable energy decreased to 75.3 percent after 82.9 percent in the same period last year.

Expansion of water affairs in the plan
According to the EVN, the plan is the expansion of the water industry. The transport line of Krems to Horn must be completed in the fall this year. And the establishment of the nature filter system in Reisenberg in the Industrial District is planned, so that the facility must come into effect in the summer of 2026.

EVN wants to separate the environment with the WTE. The Bouwgroepstrabag was mentioned as a potential buyer at the end of last year. “The negotiations on transaction sources are running,” the EVN noted.

Positive participations
The surgical investments of the supplier developed positively, including shares in Burgenland Holding, RAG and the Innkraftwerke network. Their share in the result was EUR 75.8 million, and a year earlier after a minus EUR 46.4 million.

EVN showed an EBITDA of EUR 512.8 million for the first six months of the current financial year and therefore with 20.1 percent more than in the previous year. The operational result rose by 27.7 percent to EUR 335.4 million. However, the financial result of the supplier deteriorated by 31.7 percent to EUR 29.4 million.

Weak
The provider is skeptical for the current financial year: the EVN expects a group result between EUR 400 and EUR 440 million – after EUR 471.7 million a year earlier. The dividend should be at least 0.82 euros per share – after 0.90 euros a year earlier.

The company assumes that participation in the Verbund group will yield considerably less than in the previous year. The EVN holds around 25 percent of the supplier with the Vienna Stadtwerke in the syndicate. Although the compound has recently distributed 4.15 euros per share, including a special dividend, this time it will probably only be 2.80 euros.
