Date:

Can e-mobility prevail on trucks or does it stay with the vision? When it comes to short distances, vehicles that are operated with electricity have already proven in the test. The daily suitability of the new disk form is also clear in waste removal. Thanks to the know -how from Steyr in Carinthia, the first fully electric waste collection vehicle is doing its services.

With the E-Truck Start-Up Volta Trucks WildeR automotive, as a production partner, actively help shaping the change in mobility before the bankruptcy of the Swedish company caused a complete braking of the project. After auction on the online platform Aurena. In Upper Austria in stock, such as Screws or wheel cabinet, Volta recently reported again: we are bankrupt. At the moment it does not look that the company can scratch the curve again.

Partnership with Superpanther
In the meantime, SteyRomotive continues to concentrate on making e-mobility suitable for trucks. Although the largest painting system in Europe for plastic components for trucks, which the former factory owner also approved in Steyr, has also been operated above his time, there has been a new collaboration with potential for several months. In September 2024 it was revealed that the company with Superpanther from China was entered into a strategic partnership for the development of competing electric truck.

In vacancy advertisements, SteyRer proudly refers to the MUT brand, that they secured them in 2023 and that stands for the adjustment of standard truck types and the production of special buildings for the waste collection and for road and sewer cleaning. In the summer of almost two years ago, the construction activities moved from Stockerau to Steyr, where there are currently around 1,000 employees at work.

The “Made in Steyr” seal also carries the first fully electric waste collection vehicle from Carinthia, which was built on a Volvo FE Electric. The 27 -ton truck follows approximately 100 kilometers on an average tour and is used approximately 2000 hours a year. The municipality even generates the electricity required for the operation of the vehicle. Around 8100 inhabitants are cared for in Arnoldstein, Hohentthurn and Feistritz. More than 1900 tonnes of residual waste and approximately 130 tonnes of organic waste must be collected annually.
