The Antitrusthof has imposed a fine of 175,000 euros against the Huber Disposal Society and the Huber Waste Service Administrative Society. Huber is accused of being involved in the Austria-wide waste cartel from 2003 to 2021.
It was about price agreements, market reports and the exchange of competitive information in Carinthia. However, the companies cooperated as part of the most important witness regulations, which is why the Federal Competition Authority (BWB) applied for a lower fine.
The waste cartel concerned the whole of Austria, even if individual companies were only involved in the region. Huber removal has the head office in Vienna, but also positions in other federal states. Research is still underway against numerous companies. More than 20 house searches were carried out in 2021. IT data and more than 2000 pages with documents were guaranteed.
Billion dollars with waste
The FCC Austria Waste Service and Schone Maker have so far been led as important witnesses. The FCC Austria Waste Service assumed that Saubermacher even had to pay slightly less than 7.1 million euros. The investigation into the garbage cartel had become public in March 2021. At that time, house searches confirmed energy AG in Upper Austria and Brantner in Lower Austria. Anonymous whoreers also reported, it was said by the Federal Competition Authority.
The supposed waste is a billion dollar company for the companies. Austrian waste management consists of around 300 companies with a total of more than five billion euros in turnover.
