In an internationally coordinated campaign, the law enforcement agencies, including Germany, are performing against the Prorussian Hacker Group Name057 (16), which should be responsible for numerous cyber attacks.
A network, which was distributed worldwide, was eliminated from a few hundred, as the German Federal Criminal Law Agency announced on Wednesday in Wiesbaden.
In Germany, six arrest trips were obtained and the suspects are being sought internationally. The cyber criminals would have started countless so-called DDOS attacks. A large number of data packages are sent via the internet to disturb other data processing systems. Germany has been a total of 14 waves of attacks since the start of the study in November 2023, said the BKA.
Attacks on 250 facilities in Germany
These had affected a total of around 250 companies and institutions, including armament, electricity suppliers, transport companies, public institutions and authorities. There were also comparable attacks on infrastructures from other countries, for example in the European elections or the most recent on the occasion of NATO top in the Netherlands.
According to the BKA, the most important goal of attacks on German goals to achieve media attention and thereby influence political or social decisions in Germany.
