Highest price for holiday destinations, and that in a double package! This is supposed to imitate the Burgenland a federal state.
Burgenland sets new standards in tourism. And twice. Now the entire Burgenland has achieved certification in the increasingly important sustainability with all 171 municipalities at a record pace of 14 months. In Austria, only eight regions, each with a few communities, succeeded.
Remarkable prices
The ceremonial transfer of the remarkable prices in the Martinsschlössl in Donnerskirchen took place in a glamorous atmosphere. The Austrian environmental label for destinations and the international tourcert stamp were presented. “Sustainability is a promise to our future in Burgenland. Prices confirm that our regions implement this confession with conviction and concrete measures at the highest level,” says Governor Hans Peter Doskozil.
His deputy Anja Haider-Wallner can only agree with this: “In Burgenland, tourism stands for respectful use of nature. It protects valuable habitats, strengthens domestic agriculture and contributes considerably to the sustainable development of our regions.”
Harmonious interaction
Moreover, the guests had agreed at the award that Burgenland’s Nature Park and the National Park Neusiedler see – Seewinkel could play living examples of how nature conservation, education and tourism.
Burgenland Tourismus Managing Director Didi Tunkel was very enthusiastic: “Burgenland is the first federal state that distinguishes all tourist regions at the same time and therefore as a whole with the highest sustainability standards national and international!” For this goal, guests paid the highest respect for Burgenland, in particular Minister of Agriculture Norbert Tettschnig, State Secretary Elisabeth Zehetner and Baas of Austria-Werbung Astrid Stharnig-Saudinger.
The summary: the certificates are not only recognition, but also a boost: for conscious travel decisions, for regional added value, for the sustainable development of a liveable tourist future.
