The tax authorities paid 540 million euros to taxpayers with large assets, 24% more than last year
The Tax and Customs Administration (AEAT) had never regularized the tax situation of so many large multinational companies and had never received so much income from it. The report published Thursday by the Ministry of Finance for the year 2021 indicates that the AEAT has regularized the tax bases of 112 companies and received a total of 5,578 million euros, 81% more than the slightly more than 3,000 million paid in 2020. was achieved.

As far as wealthy taxpayers are concerned, the Tax and Customs Administration settled 540 million euros in 2021, 23.6% more, a total of 1,165 files. Some of them obtained through the tool based on ‘big data’ analysis for detecting false non-residents with relevant assets, which led to the liquidation of 24.5 million euros to 69 people who found themselves “artificially” in nearly thirty countries.
It also traded more efficiently on the sunken economy. The AEAT carried out 36,600 checks on large companies, large estates, corporate abuses and the underground economy, 24% more. In this way, 14,956 million euros was obtained as a result of its audit work.
