Producers and dealers celebrate the record summer.

While some have been sweating in recent weeks, others have been able to rub their hands: the heat wave has boosted sales for many businesses. “We’re having a good summer in our more than 100 stores,” said Hervis boss Oliver Seda. Products for swimming and water sports are in demand. “The hype around stand-up paddles continues, goggles, masks and snorkels show a 30% increase from 2021.” New is “padel tennis”, which is played on smaller fields.

“On midsummer days, we usually see a doubling of sales,” says Vöslauer boss Birgit Aichinger, who was able to increase sales by 15% compared to the previous year. One such company is Gloryfy Unbreakable Eyewear, based in Schlitters in Tyrol, which specializes in unbreakable sunglasses. “We are moving from one sales record to another,” says boss Christoph Egger happily. “Beautiful weather is a very positive factor, because then there is a good mood among both the specialist dealers and the end customers.”

In retail, Palmer’s marketing director Ralph Hofmann is delighted: “As a swimwear supplier, we benefit from a warm, sunny summer. The desire to travel after Corona also led to a huge increase in demand for bikinis, bathing suits and swimming trunks.” The sales increase is 15% so far.

C&A boss Norbert Scheele feels a strong flow of customers, especially in those stores that are located in heavily air-conditioned malls. And MediaMarkt manager Christoph Dietrich sells more fans & Co.: “We are registering a lot of interest in all products in the refrigeration sector – from high-performance air conditioning units to mobile fans.”

The outdoor pools have also been busy lately. Martin Kotinsky, spokesman for the Vienna Baths: “From the third day with more than 30 degrees, the number of visitors usually increases strongly!”
