Objectively, take the witness of ‘El Carmen’

Date:

‘Nemox-Bnfix’, ‘Enewtec’, ‘Trebol Queen II’ and ‘Pez de Abril’ will take off in Palma with the aim of repeating the triumph achieved last year by the cruiser of José Coello

The Carmen-Elite Sails’, a boat of the Real Club de Regatas de Cartagena, set the bar very high last year in the Copa del Rey de Sailing, the most prestigious Spanish regatta and one of the best in the Mediterranean. José Coello’s cruise ship was declared champion of the 39th Copa del Rey, reaffirming the title it won in 2019, the last year in which this competition could be held. Three years ago, the boat from Cartagena won the ORC 2 category while last year it won in ORC 3. In this edition it will not start because it has been sold to a Portuguese owner.

If the ‘Nemox-Bnfix’ will come out, also from the Real Club de Regatas de Cartagena, which repeats this year after its creditable seventh place in 2021. The boat of the brothers Romero Vázquez and Juan Ramírez Santigosa will attend this event as one of the favorites in the ORC 3 class as they have achieved very good results in major regattas such as the Tabarca Vela and the SM La Reina Trophy, where they finished third and fourth respectively.

‘Enewtec’, with Francisco Miguel Giménez at the helm. It also has opportunities in ORC 4. The boat of Club Náutico La Isleta de La Manga’ will be in good company. The Cartagena ‘Trebol Queen II’ by Arturo García Pallarés also competes in this class. It will be his debut in this great regatta and he hopes to give his best, as well as ‘Pez de Abril’ (CN Villa de San Pedro), by José María Meseguer, who has the opportunity to become top in ClubSwan 42. These are the four boats of the region starting in Palma. The appointment officially begins today with the first day of registration and measurements, and it will be on Monday when the fleet debuts at the regatta field in Palma Bay.

But there will be more representatives from Murcia at this mandatory event on the national regatta calendar. Jose Manuel and Pablo Meca will be part of the crew of the J70 ‘Let it be’ of the Club Náutico de Denia. Jesús Rosen will board the German yacht ‘Olymp’ to race in the ClubSwan 50 class, as Juanma Barrionuevo will be on the ‘Nadir’, in ClubSwan 42.

The ‘Fandango 300’ will also be at the start of the RC2 class. The CN Portmán cruiser will compete under the Ecuadorian flag, but a large proportion of the crew will be from the Murcia region, such as Javier Sabiote, Antonio Navas, José Luis Martínez, Lucas Alcaraz and Julio Bernardeau.

Manuel Fraga, director of the regatta, kicked off the test yesterday in an act in which he revealed the sporting details of this edition. “This year the fleet will be divided into nine categories. Four of them will battle in compensated time and the remaining five will battle in real time. For this we have three regatta areas in our beautiful bay of Palma. We will again have a very international regatta with twenty nationalities represented and 111 teams”. The names of the winners will be announced on August 6.

For the four ORC divisions, the Race Committee is counting on 11 races in windward/leeward format. Of the five divisions that will battle in real time, three will do so under the signature of the Nautor’s Swan Shipyard.
