EVN, which will significantly increase its prices from September 1, assures its customers that from December 1, 2022 to at least March 31, 2023, there will be no shutdown in any household, even if there are payment problems for electricity and gas, local and district heating.
In talks with the energy supplier’s board of directors, the Lower Austrian Chamber of Labor (AKNÖ) has reached attenuation for consumers, AKNÖ chairman Markus Wieser said on Friday. Among other things, he called for an electricity price ceiling from the federal government. He also called on the federal government to do more to suspend the merit order principle in the electricity market across Europe. In the system, the last – usually the most expensive – (gas) plant determines the price level.
Energy supplier refers to discount programs
According to a broadcast, EVN will contact those who have not yet signed up for any of the energy supplier’s discounts in the customer portal. A rate switch to a product with a twelve-month price guarantee is also offered. This brings “loyal” customers up to 17 percent off. In addition, EVN will process the discount on the electricity price of Lower Austria through the online portal. Reference was also made to the EVN social fund, which has three million euros.
These points “help mitigate the impact of the worst energy crisis we’ve ever experienced,” Wieser said. Incidentally, the AK supports financially weak households with an energy bonus of 200 euros.
