Current inflation checks show: cheap hair shampoo cost almost a chilling 36 percent more in June than the previous year, the price of cheap heavy-duty laundry detergent is up 31 percent from June 2021.
A survey conducted in seven supermarkets and discounters (Billa, Billa Plus, Spar Interspar, Hofer Lidl and Penny) between 20 and 23 June 2022 shows: Cheap hair shampoo (100 milliliters) cost an average of 0.17 euros in June 2021 June 2022 already 0 23 euros.
“That’s an increase of almost 36 percent,” calculates AK consumer lawyer Gabriele Zgubic.
Cheap own brands partly not available
Liquid detergent (1 wash) still cost 0.09 euros in June 2021, in June 2022 already 0.12 euros – an increase of 31 percent: “It is also problematic that, in addition to the sharp price increases, cheaper own brands are sometimes available in the stores are not available and consumers have to resort to even more expensive products.”
