Large-scale police operation in Vienna on Tuesday: According to information from “Krone”, a 32-year-old from Lower Austria became intoxicated, drew a gun and fired at police officers. Possible motive: heartbreak.
In the afternoon the alarm bells went off at the police in Vienna-Penzing. An enraged man initially ran armed down Hernstorferstrasse, a .22 caliber pistol strapped to his waistband. Noticing the approaching patrol cars, he fled into one of the houses.
There he would first have called the officials that his girlfriend had cheated on him. The situation then escalated completely: the suspect fired at least three shots at the police officers, the director said.
