The thread on Twitter already adds more than 45,000 likes
If there is one Spanish series that is television culture, it is ‘There is no one alive here’. The fiction, broadcast on Antena 3 from 2003 to 2006, marked the first decade of the 21st century with its everyday scenes, humorous accents and household characters representing each of the Spaniards. The famous residents of the community led by Juan Cuesta experienced all kinds of events and adventures in the five seasons of a series that continues to win fans.
In the years of broadcast it was the most watched series in Spain and even today, almost twenty years later, the iconic phrases are still repeated and all kinds of memes still appear that perfectly reflect current events. Emilio, Belén, Mauri, Marisa and Vicenta… and an endless number of characters who acted with a practically shared leading role, continue in the collective and also virtual imagination. It’s in social networks where the series lives on, as the latest thread on Twitter that has gone viral demonstrates.
The user @j20barbosa is the creator of this unique comparison of some of the most iconic scenes in the series with the greatest works of art in the history of painting. “I have found that ANHQV (‘Nobody lives here’) can relate to many works of art,” explains the internet user. Thus begins a zero-waste thread that already has more than 46,000 likes, nearly 13,500 retweets, and a multitude of comments.
Among the similarities there are real masters of painting, such as Leonardo Da Vinci, Botticelli, Van Gogh, Gustav Klimt or Velázquez. His paintings are works of art, but the comparison of this ‘tweeter’ is not far behind. It’s worth noting the resemblance between ‘The Birth of Venus’ and a scene where Mariano covers herself with a frying pan; or Eduard Munch’s mythical ‘The Scream’ with Paloma Cuesta leaning out of the terrace window.
The original thread adds ten original and hilarious comparisons, but in the comments to the publication, many users also show their imagination by adding scenes from the series with other famous paintings. There is no doubt that in cases like this, social networks are the perfect place to enjoy and participate in ingenuity, and to remember the most mythical series on television by creating memes.
