From September 8 to 11, VI Flamenco Week will be held, featuring Rocío Márquez, Bronquio, Perrate and Los Voluble, among others
Orthodox and heterodox artists will meet during the VI Flamenco Week in Alhama de Murcia, which will be held from September 8 to 11 in the Municipal Auditorium. Four free music evenings and a total of seven shows – two per night, at 10pm and 11:30pm, except Sundays, as one ‘show’ at 10pm – to enjoy a diverse range of talents.
Laboratories Flamenco will be responsible for the inauguration on Thursday the 8th of the festival led by Onesimo Samuel Hernández and José Miguel Cerezo. A multidisciplinary project born of femininity that aims to be a channel of experimentation for four women who share flamenco as a common language and who, in addition to dialogue with it, want to transcend it. ‘And I lost my center’ is his last show. Then it is the turn of Volante de la Puebla. Sevillians Esteban Garrido and Paco Mora are determined to rename popular icons. The powerful iconography of Andalusian folklore is thrown on their backs to explode in a hilarious bacchanal.
On Friday, September 9, the show is dedicated to Rocío Márquez and Bronquio. The cantaora and producer of urban and electronic music will perform live the songs of ‘Tercer Cielo’, an exploratory record project in which flamenco styles such as bulería, seguiriya, toná or soleá are approached from techno, UK garage, electro or the break. After his performance, Dereck Van Den Bulcke from Lorca will take the stage and offer a walk through his personal imagination through ‘Flamante’, a musical research and production project.
On Saturday the 10th, Raúl Cantizano and Los Voluble present ‘Zona acordonada’, a prepared, hybrid and transmedia guitar concert that departs from guitar, electronics, flamenco and audiovisual creation to reflect on the society, the artistic and the cultural of the new normal . Later, Los Voluble will be left alone on the shelves. With ‘Flamenco is not a crime’ they propose an eclectic and danceable session with audiovisual experiments.
Perrate will conclude the sixth Flamenco Week in Alhama de Murcia on Sunday the 11th, an event supported by the City Council and Universae. Flamenco singer Tomás Fernández Soto, Perrate, arrives in Alhama to perform the songs from ‘Tres coups’ live. His latest work carries cantes with its own familiar form – cantes of the front door of the house – raw, without decorations; also a personal approach to forms that could have been in the vein of flamenco, but have been lost for some reason, such as the chaconne, the jácara or the folía; and also new forms for tonás, romances, seguiriyas and seguidillas.
