The Calasparra Rice Fair and the traditional running of the bulls will bring color to the streets of the Northwest Municipality after two years without being able to hold due to the coronavirus pandemic. The most important bullfighting fair in the Murcia region and one of the most prestigious in Spain this year will be held in a portable arena, as was the case with the Santos bullfight in July.
The fair and the bull run will start this Saturday with a bullfight with heifers from Barcial, which will be fought by José Antonio Lavado, Miguelito and José María Trigueros, the first novillero from the region of Murcia to appear in the entry. This will be the first of six picador bullfights in a cycle that runs through September 8.
Tomorrow there will be a herd change and the initially announced Miura horns will not be treated. José Rojo, Pedro Gallego and Diego García will finally face a bull run through Daniel Ramos’ Castellón cattle ranch. On Monday, September 5, it will be the turn of the Saltillo oxen for El Chorlo, Cristian Pérez and José Antonio Valencia. On Tuesday, 6 perform with oxen from El Pincha, Jorge Molina, Niño de las Monjas and Marcos Linares. On Wednesday, September 7, Prieto de la Cal’s oxen will ride and Gómez Valenzuela, Víctor Cerrato and Miguel Andrade will do the paseo. During the holidays, the bullfighting associations of the municipality organize various activities.
