The Symphony Orchestra of the Region celebrates 20 years of ‘Family Concerts’

The Symphony Orchestra of the Region of Murcia (OSRM) will celebrate the 20th anniversary of its “Family Concerts” cycle during the 2022-2023 season, which will be held in the regional auditorium of Víctor Villegas and bring symphonic music closer to the smallest, Community sources reported. .

Councilor for the Presidency, Tourism, Culture and Sports, Marcos Ortuño, explained that “Encouraging a love of music from an early age is one of the greatest commitments of our orchestra and this has been demonstrated for 20 years with the series ‘Concerts in Familia’, a time when it achieved overwhelming numbers, with first-class musical proposals and absolute sales in almost all its programs».

The new season, with Virginia Martínez as artistic director and head, consists of six concerts, three of which have been chosen by the public via email and social networks. Thus, some of the most loved and remembered shows of Murcian families will be restored.

Such is the case with ‘María Parrado and the Magic of Disney’, which opens the season on Sunday, October 23, alongside Murcian actor Fran Bermejo. The young singer, who rose to fame after winning the first edition of La Voz Kids and voiced songs from films as endearing as ‘Vaiana’, will tour the soundtracks of ‘The Lion King’, ‘Coco’, ‘Pocahontas’ or ‘Encanto’ among others.

On December 11, the OSRM will travel to New York to make ‘A walk down Broadway’ and receive Christmas from the hand of Daniel Diges. The well-known actor and singer will discuss some of the most popular musical themes, from ‘Chicago’ to ‘Mamma mia’, through ‘Annie’ or ‘Les miserable’. Diges is known for his participation in this latest title, not only in Spain, but also in Mexico and Brazil, where he brought to life the main characters Jean Valjean and Enjolras.

On Sunday 5 February, another of the most popular concerts, ‘The Adventures of Peer Gynt’, will take place with the Murcian company El Hechizo Teatro. Based on the character of Henirk Ibsen and with the well-known music of Edvard Grieg, ‘Peer Gynt’ tells the adventures of a young man who one day goes into the depths of the forest, before embarking on a fun journey full of adventures of which he can be alone. will be successful if he shows all his ingenuity.

Another show chosen by the public is ‘Dreams of the Animal Carnival’, which takes place on March 12 and is performed by the company Títeres Etcétera. This is the largest production programmed in ‘Family Concerts’ and one of the productions that evokes the most emotions, because through the music of Debussy and Saint-Säens, the musicians of the orchestra will mingle on stage with animals of all kinds and sizes, some very impressive.

April 30 it is the turn of the dance. The Murcian ballet company ‘Danzo’ will be responsible for the staging of ‘El Sueno de Pop’, a production in which different artistic disciplines such as dance, rhythmic gymnastics, theater and music are intertwined, to tell a beautiful history that values ​​the importance of traditional toys in addition to the good use of new technologies. All accompanied by the music of Delibes, Gounod, Paganini or Schumann, among others, performed from the pit by the OSRM.

The cycle ends on May 28 with ‘A la bin, a la ban, a la Ludwig Van!’, a proposal by the Teatro Real in co-production with Producciones El Espectador in which, through the story of the well-known comedian, illusionist and writer Luis Piedrahita we will enter the neighborhood community of Beethoven, whose music will be performed by the regional symphony.

This season, the subscriptions for the six concerts of the cycle will be reclaimed at the price of 50 euros. They will be on sale at the Auditorium box office and on the Internet, at auditoriomurcia.org and bacantix.com from tomorrow, Tuesday, at 9 a.m. and until October 21. Tickets for each performance in turn cost 12 euros and can be purchased from September 23 through the same channels.
