BBC North Ireland has commissioned a new series of Beauty Queen and Single.
A preview from Sony Pictures Television owner Stellify Media invites “beauty queens” to “let go of their flawless perfection and embrace their natural beauty” by going on five dates with five men without makeup.
The new four-part series will be filmed in Belfast this summer.
The format was also expected for the third series in 2023 at YLE Areena in Finland.
The first series of Beauty Queen & Single was broadcast on BBC One NI in 2017 and that year won the Cup for Best Comedy and Entertaining Program at the Royal Television Society of Ireland Awards.
There were also versions of the show on BBC Scotland and BBC Wales and the format went to YLE Finland and NPO 3 in the Netherlands, each with two series.
“Beauty Queen and the Homestead is our favorite Stellify show,” said Matthew Worth, co-CEO of Stellify Media. “It was great to see such a hit on home soil that it attracted so many international audiences – and we are now thrilled to welcome it back home.”
“With Beauty Queen & Single, we’ve always known you can do it where you want to,” said Kieran Doherty, co-CEO of Stellify Media. “This is a universal theme of trying to find love, and it’s also eternal, so it’s very exciting to make another TV series on BBC NI.”
