The new space in the city houses works by 31 national and international artists with different languages
‘Heroes and Villains’ is the name of the exhibition with which the Murcia Old Prison Center for Contemporary Culture kicks off the season. An exhibition that represents not only a reunion between the Murcian public and contemporary art, but also an opportunity to enjoy a proposal with national and international participation and wide projection.
Organized by the Ministry of Culture and the Institute of Art and Culture, and curated by Eva Hernández Calderón, the exhibition was opened on Thursday by the Mayor of Murcia, José Antonio Serrano. ‘Heroes and villains’ comprises more than 50 works of painting, sculpture, photography, installations and ‘nfts’ by 31 national and international artists. A unique experience with languages as different as realism, expressionism, surrealism, hyperrealism and all kinds of figurations. In particular, you can see works by Perrilla, Juan Piza, Thomas Kuebler, Eva Montoro, Pedro Sandoval, Joan Priego, Jan Valdés, Diego Aznar, Mark Gleason, Julián Orgaz, Penrider, Virginie Barré, Zoe Moss, Peter Zelei, Hans Kuyper, Martin Beck, Reme Amorós, Philipp Liehr, Fred Stonehouse, Paul Neberra, Jorge Pérez Parada, Kerstin Jedwill, Eugenio Merino, Luciano Sánchez, Teresa Guerrero, Javier Martínez, Mariano Vargas, Javier Granados, Antonio de Felipe, Pablo Ruiz and Marcos Santos.
The exhibition can be visited until mid-October, from Tuesday to Saturday, from 10:30 am to 2:00 pm and from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm.
During the opening ceremony, with a large audience, the Mayor of Murcia emphasized “the wide projection of an exhibition that enriches a modern and avant-garde space open to all Murcians, where they will find numerous reasons to walk through the rooms and to appreciate the art of high-ranking authors, such as those who participate in this occasion».
