Magic returns to the Pupaclown Scenic Center

Date:

The Circus Festival and the Festival of Performing Arts for Children have the best companies of the moment and the presenters are premiering the new show ‘And then… cataplán’.

After two years of the coronavirus pandemic, the Pupaclown Foundation, chaired by Pepa Astillero, has resorted to the illusion of designing a program without restrictions, without health protocols or safety distances, and with the promise of magic, wishes and laughter. The Performing Arts Center on Calle Federico García Lorca in Murcia is hosting this season the tenth edition of the ‘Carpa de Acogida’ Circus Festival and the thirteenth Festival of Performing Arts for Children. Until January, children and families can enjoy more than 80 activities: weekend shows – for all ages, some for an audience older than one year –, school campaign, workshops with prestigious professionals…

The Performing Center will host more than 20 different companies, leading nationally and regionally, both in circus and performing arts. The Circus Festival consists of workshops and shows that aim to use the circus as a tool for integration and social cohesion, transferring its magic to socially excluded groups, shelters and anyone interested in the different circus disciplines.

From October 15, there will be shows from major national companies such as Seón, from Zaragoza, who will present the show ‘Infinit’ (October 8), winner of the Zirkolika Award for Best Indoor Circus Show 2022, and ‘Ahá! Circo’, by Circo Alas (Córdoba), which will take place on October 1.

The Festival of Performing Arts for Children extends its program until after Christmas. It wants to delve into the wonderful world of stories, as this genre occupies an important place in the festival’s programming. He receives Eugenia Manzanera with her award-winning ‘Retahilando’, an intricate mix of storytelling, object games and music; Rodorín brings his ‘Puppets and stories tableau’; Elena Octavia will present her show based on the story ‘The Queen of Lentils’, winner of the 2022 CuatroGatos Foundation Award for Best Text. In addition, there will also be ‘Pinocchio’ from Zum Zum Teatre, and Festuc Teatre will come from Lérida to Murcia with its ‘Lámpara marvellos’.

Within the twenty-first Titeremurcia you can see La Canela, from Jaén, with ‘Rojo’, which combines glove puppets with oral narration, and ‘Cuentos del binomio’, by Binixiflat.

The Pupaclown Company, host of these festivals, will premiere its latest production, a journey dressed as a clown in traditional stories: ‘And then… cataplán’ (November 13 and December 29), directed by Beatriz Maciá and performed by Ate Soria, Antonio Olmos and ngela España. And other costumes will also be donned to ‘The Teddy Bear Thief’ (January 3), ‘The Adventure of Bruno and Estela’ (November 27), ‘The Seven Little Kids’ (November 19 and January 4) and ‘The Three Little Pigs’ ‘ (all dates and prices at https://www.pupaclown.org/).

As a novelty, the Andrés Santos Station Band from Murcia will perform live film music on January 21, 2023: ‘Why worry?’.
