More than 200 candidates for the David Gistau Journalism Prize


The prize, which pays tribute to the journalist who died in February 2020, is endowed with 10,000 euros and will be awarded on November 11.

More than 200 works will compete for the David Gistau Journalism Award in what will be the third edition, after the deadline for submitting applications for this award, jointly created by Vocento and Unidad Editorial and endowed with 10,000 euros, closes today at 2: 00 o’clock pm :00 o’clock.

Sponsored by the ACS Foundation and Santander, the award pays tribute to the journalist who died in February 2020, who developed much of his career in the newspapers ‘ABC’ and ‘El Mundo’, highlighting quality and independent journalism who embodied honest and brave David Gistau.

In this third edition of the prize, collaborations or journalistic opinion pieces have been published or broadcast in print, online, radio or television presented between July 1, 2021 and June 30, 2022, and in Spanish. It will be one of the published works under which the jury must select a new winner. The winner of the first edition was the journalist and writer Alberto Olmos and in the second the philosopher and writer Diego S. Garrocho.

On October 18, a first selection will be made where the best works will be appreciated and, after a first screening, on November 11, a jury consisting of eight experts in journalism and opinion, four from the editorial team and four from Vocento, will select the winner. of the third edition of the prize. On behalf of Vocento, the jury will consist of Jesús García Calero, director of ABC Cultural; Lourdes Garzón, director of ‘Mujerhoy’ and WomenNOW; Eduardo Peralta, Editor-in-Chief of ‘Ideal’; and Karina Sainz, columnist for ‘ABC’. The editorial board will be represented by Leyre Iglesias, Deputy Director of Opinion; Manuel Llorente, Culture Editor-in-Chief at ‘El Mundo’; Maite Rico, deputy director of La Lectura; and Gonzalo Suárez, editor-in-chief of ‘El Mundo’.
