The presenter combines her daily work on the radio with a television project that will see the light of day in 2023
We’ve had to wait almost ten years to see the versatile Julia Otero on the small screen again. The presenter and announcer will return to TVE next year with a new entertainment program of which few details are known. The title of the format, one of the great assets of the public broadcaster for the “prime time” of 2023, is entitled “El día que…” and will be produced by “LACOproductora”, the company founded by the journalist José Miguel Contraras. The space was approved last Thursday during the first formal meeting of the board of directors chaired by Elena Sánchez, who was able to give the green light to the project by a majority vote, with the votes in favor of the directors proposed by the PSOE and United We can.
In this way, Otero will combine her daily work as director and presenter of ‘Julia en la Onda’, in the afternoons of Onda Cero, with a new program that marks her return to television since 2013, when she led ‘Ciudadanos’, two Antena 3 specials in which he addressed the situation of unemployment and education at the time, with little success with the public.
However, the presenter is now returning to TVE, a channel she has had links with at various stages of her extended professional life. In 1987 he premiered in the public company with the debate of La 2 ‘Una historia particular’, although Otero gained great popularity with the public with the mythical competition ‘3×4’, recorded from the studios of Sant Cugat del Vallés (Barcelona) . She later presented the interview format ‘La Luna’ (1989) and was the first host of the Christmas program ‘Telepasión Española’ (1990), where she sang and danced alongside the other faces of public radio and television. In La 1 she was also master of ceremonies for ‘Las cherries’ (2004) and ‘Interview a la carta’ (2012), her last project on TVE. In 2021, she announced that she was suffering from colon cancer, which prevented her from making the front page.
All in all, TVE will continue to strengthen its network for next year, aiming to improve the discreet audience that has accompanied the company in recent months, below 9% of its screen share. Together with Otero, the second edition of ‘Benidorm Fest’ or ‘MasterChef’ will be other big novelties for early next year.
