The English artist has died at the age of 79 after a “short illness”
Fleetwood Mac singer and keyboardist Christine McVie, author of some of the British band’s best-known songs, passed away this Wednesday at the age of 79, her family said in a statement.
“We would like to say that everyone holds Christine in their hearts and remembers the life of an incredible human being and a respected musician who was universally loved,” the letter is quoted as being collected by Britain’s radio and television BBC.
McVie’s family has detailed that the artist passed away after “a brief illness”. McVie was part of the band for 27 years, from 1971 to 1998, although it is true that in 2014 he announced his return to the musical formation.
Fleetwood Mac also released a statement conveying their “sadness” over the death of a McVie who, they say, was “truly unique, special and talented.”
“She was the best musician anyone could have in their band and the best girlfriend anyone could have in their life,” the band said on their Instagram profile on the social network.
Some of the band’s most notable songs, such as ‘Everywhere’, ‘Don’t Stop’ or ‘Songbird’, among others, bear the signature of the late British singer and keyboardist.
