Tasting room Estrella de Levante brings together famous faces from the music world at the presentation of Victoria Sánchez’s book

Members of groups from the Region of Murcia such as Iluminados, Octubre, The Yellow Melodies, Yana Zafiro, Marcelo Criminal, Pieles Sebastian, Vacaciones, Noise Box, Arde Bogotá, Nunatak, Parade and Crudo Pimento had a very friendly meeting this Wednesday at the Tasting Room Estrella de Levante, resounding with indie rock ‘made in the Region of Murcia’ at the presentation of the book ‘Murcia loves indie’, by teacher Victoria Sánchez. Promoters and enthusiasts of this style were also present at the event held last night.

‘Murcia loves indie’ brings together the trajectory of different groups of this music genre in the region, a tribute accompanied by original illustrations prepared by the author himself. To shape this publication, Victoria Sánchez was advised by journalist and music critic Ángel H. Sopena, author of the prologue.

Estrella de Levante’s Communications and External Relations Officer, Yayo Delgado, led the thread of this evening in which the journalist Ángel Sopena, Isbell, from Iluminados, and the editor, Victoria Sánchez, highlighted the important artistic quarry in the region and the relevance of its disclosure.

The work, in whose edition the Estrella de Levante Foundation collaborates, takes a tour of the most representative and consolidated groups of regional indie’s past and present – from the 1980s to the present – and features several recently created regional formations with projection of the future within this genre. As Estrella de Levante reported yesterday, the book contains a compilation of a total of 30 selected groups and soloists, such as M Clan, Varry Brava, Second, Viva Suecia, Perro or Neuman, among others.

In the publication, issued in the format equivalent of a vinyl record, the illustrations play a special role, in which the use of color predominates and in which the author has been inspired by the iconography of the groups themselves, on the basis of video clips, promotional images or the message of their most important songs. The didactic presentation of the lyrics is another feature of Murcia loves indie. Through headings like ‘an object that represents them’, ‘origin of the name’, ‘the moment everything changed’, ‘Did you know?’ or ‘what makes them happiest about music’, you’ll find information and curiosities about each of the Murcian indie rock groups and soloists collected in this book, representative of the predominant role musicians from this country play in the national scene.

Part of the proceeds will go to the Food Bank of the Region of Murcia and the book can be purchased on the Instagram profile of the author (@marivisuarte), at https://libreriaenlasnubes.es/, at https://loslibrosdelaluciernaga .es / , on the solidarity markets of Estrella de Levante and soon in physical bookshops.
