Orchestral Maneuvers in the Dark, Nada Surf and Mercromina lead the bill for this third edition to be held on September 22 and 23 at La Fica
Following the success of a second edition that landed in Murcia last September, the Visor Fest festival announced this Monday that it will be returning to the city in 2023. This edition, which will be the third of the festival, will take place on September 22 and 23 at the La Fica fairground. In addition, they also confirmed the first names that will be part of the poster for this new episode. These are Orchestral Maneuvers in the Dark, Nada Surf and Mercromina.
At this festival you will find national and international bands that originated in the 80s and 90s but continue to carry a fresh and current discourse. All this with a single goal: to evoke the scent of those first festivals that made us love live music and where we could enjoy it to the fullest.
It retains its peculiar identity as a ’boutique’ festival, with limited capacity and a format closer to live shows in theaters than to macro festivals: complete concerts, without overlapping, on one stage with impeccable sound in the open air.
Names like The Waterboys, The Jesus & Mary Chain, Ride, James, The Flaming Lips, Mudhoney, New Model Army, Cat Power, !!!, Ash, Saint Etienne, Chameleons Vox, Lightning Seeds or Teenage Fanclub have already passed it . .
The first big name for the third edition of the festival is the British Orchestral Maneuvers in the Dark (OMD). The synthpop duo pioneered their genre, successfully combining big hits with experimentation. With hits like “Enola Gay,” “Joan of Arc (Maid of Orleans),” and “Souvenir,” among many others, their fame propelled them into the stratosphere, shaping the music scene of the 1980s like few others.
Nada Surf, another top international band, will also be present at the Visor Fest. They were formed in New York in 1992 and quickly became known in the alternative rock scene. With the release of their third album in 2002, Let Go, world critics fell at their feet, a before and after for the band’s success. Twenty years later, they retain that elegant and timeless sound that has always characterized them.
The first national confirmation is about Mercromina. Reunited in 2015 after a decade apart, the group once again demonstrated why they are one of the reference names in the history of Spanish pop.
