Corona virus was confirmed a few days before the Academy Awards ceremony for Kenneth Branna in Los Angeles.
Cyran Hinds, who was nominated for Best Supporting Actor in a Male Role for “Belfast”, also did well. Both are isolated in New York.
Belfast is set to win seven awards, including Best Picture, Best Director and Best Original Screenplay, with an awards ceremony taking place this week.
The Oscars will also be attended by movie stars Jamie Dornan and Catriona Balfe.
It is understood that Prana will not be able to attend the Oscars in person and will send you a pre-recorded letter instead.
The director also did not appear at the Producers Guild Awards (PGA) on Saturday and instead participated by default.
This will be the first in-person academic award prior to the February 2020 pandemic, as it was taking place around 2021.
At this year’s Academy Awards, all guests are invited to submit negative Covid-19 tests and proof of vaccination.
Hosts and performers will not need to be vaccinated, but they will need to prove they have not had the virus recently.
Earlier this month, Belfast won Best British Film at the BAFTA Awards.
The movie’s 11-year-old star Judd Hill, who stars in Buddy, also won a Critics’ Choice Award earlier this month for Best Young Actress.
