A special concert by a string quartet will take place in an intimate setting in the Artillerie Barracks
What the Murcia artillery barracks organized this Wednesday was more than just a concert. It could be described as an intimate musical experience shared by candlelight. The Candlelight cycle, which continues through the months of January and February, albeit with different repertoires, premiered in the capital with a selection of Christmas tunes from the world of cinema. Another show to celebrate the most endearing time of the year.
Set against absolute darkness and enveloped in a blanket of flickering candles (alongside the applause of the respectables), a string quartet performed familiar tunes like “Glasgow Love Theme,” from “Love Actually”; ‘Let it go’, from ‘Frozen’; ‘The Christmas carol from ‘It’s a Wonderful Life’; and “Rockin’ Around the Christmas Tree,” among others from “Home Alone,” to a captivated audience captivated by the proposal.
“The use of candles makes it a very relaxed environment,” says Isabel, one of the attendees. For Enrique, another audience member, the experience was “incredible”: “I always had goosebumps.” Those wanting more can repeat with the following Candlelight concerts soon to be held in Murcia: Vivaldi’s ‘Four Seasons’, a tribute to Coldplay and another to Queen, and a selection of Hans Zimmer’s best pieces.
