Twelve performances allow you to enjoy theatre, circus and dance ‘A pie de calle’ in Murcia

Date:

Performances begin this weekend and continue through May next year

A total of twelve theatre, circus, dance and music shows form the second edition of the ‘A pie de calle’ cycle, organized by the Performing Arts Area of the Culture Department of the Murcia City Council. Performances will begin this weekend with award-winning company La Baldufa Teatre, which will present “Bye Bye, Confetti” on Saturday, and will continue through May next year, municipal sources said in a statement.

The Councilor of Culture, Tourism and Sport of the Murcia City Council, Pedro García Rex, emphasizes that with this new offer “the Department of Culture is once again launching an initiative that brings theater shows to the streets to make culture more accessible, allowing cultural and leisure alternatives to to be enjoyed with the family and which allows us to reach more audiences than those who usually occupy the seats in our theaters and auditoriums, also bringing the little ones closer to theatre, circus and dance”.

The ‘A pie de calle’ cycle was born last year with the aim of re-filling the streets with culture and resuming the work begun before the pandemic by the Murcia City Council. All scheduled shows are free (except the first show) and in addition to combining different disciplines, the formats will also vary, as some of the proposals will take place in squares and gardens, while others will be itinerant shows. directly to the meeting with passers-by. The city of Murcia will also receive most of the programmed works, but theatre, circus and dance will also reach other districts such as Guadalupe and La Alberca.

The performances start this Saturday, January 14 (12:00 and 18:00) in the Garden of Fame (Parque de los Perros) with ‘Bye Bye, Conffeti’. An acclaimed show by La Baldufa Teatre (National Prize for Performing Arts for Children and Youth 2020), recommended for ages 8 and up, that will introduce us to some extravagant clowns who, after the death of their leader, Confetti, and once dueling, they dive into the crowds to find a new guide.

On this occasion, due to the particularities of the meeting and the reduced capacity, it is necessary to have a ticket, which can be purchased in advance for the single price of 8 euros at the box office of the Teatro Circo Murcia and via the website ‘www.teatrocicomurcia.es’.

The street programming continues on January 20 and 28 with two music and circus proposals: ‘Music on Cycles’, by LaDinamo, invites us to enjoy an original concert where the musicians tour the city on bicycles and invite those who walk through it to a unique and frenetic party to the rhythm of funk. And in ‘Poi’, from Cía. D’es Tro, we meet a character trapped since childhood by the gyroscopic effect of his spinning top and with whom we will embark on a journey from tangles and twists to play, one of the most important states of life.

February begins with a visit to the ‘Hotel La Rue’, which opens its doors on Saturday the 4th in La Alberca by the Sueños de Fausto firm. It is a show that plunges us into the territory of masks or the body, that is, where emotion resides. A scenic proposal that narrates the meeting between Manuela, a nomad living on the street selling violets and pushing her car house, and Miguel, a wealthy engineer living in a middle-class neighborhood.

Another mask show will be XA’s! Teatre, ‘Grands’, arriving February 10. On this occasion, a few grandparents go on impossible missions, fighting against the abandonment and abuse of animals, against the waste of water, reinterpreting social networks and betting on recycling, healthy food and renewable energy. And on February 18, the circus returns with La Maquiné and its show ‘Parade’. The circus of the brave’. Uncle Pepe and Chochotte the clown will arrive on the square and set up their little circus tent to raise issues of respect, living together and caring for animals in a better world.

February ends with ‘Rojo’, from the Mireia Miracle Company. On Saturday the 25th, this proposal of poetic clown, dance and humor will talk about boundaries, also a tribute to contemporary clowns and silent films. And we will also reflect on borders and migration through the dance of Cía. Maduixa and ‘Migrare’, which we will see on March 17. On this occasion, exploring the limits of equilibrium with their stilts, the members of the company will give birth to women who had to leave their country and embark on a path full of obstacles and invisible boundaries.

In April, dance and circus take center stage. On Saturday 22, in La Alberca, the young company Humancía Dansa presents ‘Ego’, a contemporary piece that examines how individuals live and relate to each other in society, criticizing human egoism. And on Friday the 28th Collectif Primavez in Murcia bets on the circus with ‘Laisse moi’, a platonic story, with sweetness and pain, that deals with the search for the soulmate, the other half, and the power that emanates from being united

Finally, on May 5, we will attend a concert by a delusional vocal quartet, which will offer a good dose of music, humour, ‘fantaciencia’ and ‘ascopena’. It’s Primital Brothers and their show ‘Primital Prime’. And the cycle ends on May 12 with the crazy ‘Grumpy Unicorns’; an inclusive proposal from Hijinxs Theater that will show us that unicorns are real… they are flesh and blood. And from now on, we have no choice but to take them seriously.

All information about the twelve performances of the ‘A pie de calle’ cycle, the program and the specific place of each performance, can be consulted on the website of the Teatro Circo Murcia, ‘www.teatrocicomurcia.es’ and also at ‘ https://eventos.murcia.es’.
