Date:

The programming includes music, theatre, literature, dance and photography

The Board of Directors of the Murcia City Council approved this Friday the programming that will take place from March to June in the 47 cultural centers of the neighborhoods of Murcia and their districts. The cultural activities have been designed taking into account the characteristics of the socio-cultural environment in which they will take place and listening to the demands of the neighbours. The budget for this programming represents an amount of 85,000 euros.

In the vast majority of Murcia’s districts, there is no other municipal program that proposes cultural dissemination, so the cultural centers run a wide and varied program aimed at all walks of life, offering something for everyone. Activities are also carried out on the occasion of certain days such as Women’s Day or Book Day. As for the performing arts, several plays will be staged, such as ‘Las hermanas Urruti’, ‘My last hour with him’, ‘Comadres’, ‘El Buscón’, ‘Samsara. We are nobody’. As for the musical shows, ‘Regina, queen of tv’ and ‘The power of the 80’s’ are held.

The little ones can enjoy shows such as ‘Tales on a trip’, ‘Walking through the garden with Lola de Caracola’, ‘Pinocchio’, ‘The Wizard of Oz’ ‘Mulán’, ‘The Little Prince’, ‘Alice in the country’ of Las Maravillas’, puppets and theater in English. They can also become little writers through the ‘Tell Me Your Story’ competition, where they learn to write their own story and are selected for reading in schools. The cultural centers will also organize storytelling sessions and there will be a soap bubble workshop in Llano de Brujas.

As for the literature section, there will be presentations of various books, such as ‘Anoxia’ by Miguel Ángel Hernández; ‘Invulnerable and invertebrates’, by Lola López Mondéjar and ‘Ahmar’, by Juan Javier Martí. In addition, a meeting will be held in the reading clubs of the cultural centers of Jerónimo and Avileses, La Albatalía, Santiago and Zaraiche and Zarandona, with the author José Luis Leante.

The musical activities include concerts of very different styles such as ‘The voice of women through time’, ‘Jazz Concert. On Tuesday music’, ‘Recuerdos 7.5’, the choir ‘Cantos del corazón’ and Dabo Badass, finalist of the musical group of the Crea Murcia 2022 contest and the Patiño Folk festival, as well as recitals of various bands and gang meetings. In addition, you can visit various exhibitions on painting and photography during this semester. Among them are ‘Ojos de Guerra’, a show that tells the reality of the conflict in Ukraine, ‘Forty bubbles of Jazz’, ‘Portraits’, by José Filemón, ‘Pajaricos de la Huerta. Biodiversity, art and research’ and ‘Inside the look’, drawings and watercolors by Ana Luengo Michel, among others.

The cultural centers will organize the cycle of conferences and workshops ‘Control + Z. Meetings for digital literacy’, to meet the challenge of making good use of the new forms of communication and to form a criterion that is more understandable for the citizens who adapt to it. For this, topics such as hoaxes, hate speech and the keys to digital well-being at home will be discussed, teaching in a practical way how to combat problems such as cyberbullying or misinformation. From 2 to 6 May, five talks will be given by communication and technology professionals.

Citizens will also have the chance to attend several guided cultural outings such as ‘Murcia: History of our Streets’, ‘Monteagudo Complex: The Wolf King’s Forts’, ‘El Arrabal de la Arrixaca’, ‘El Martirium de La Alberca and the Basilica of Algezares’, ‘Heritage of the South Coast’, ‘The Secrets of Murcia Cathedral and its Surroundings’, ‘Charming and Haunted Houses’ and a cultural visit to Águilas.
