Kevin Spacey returns to cinemas after five years of veto

The American actor will star in the blockbuster ‘1242-Gateway to the West’ after being cleared of the sexual harassment charges he faced due to lack of evidence

Five years after several sexual harassment allegations, Kevin Spacey returns to the cinema. The American actor stars in the blockbuster ‘1242-Gateway to the West’, a historical drama about the Mongol invasion that begins in the fall. The return of the main character of ‘American Beauty’ takes place after he is acquitted of the charges he was charged due to lack of evidence.

The actor has been away from the cameras and the stage since 2017, when he last appeared in James Cox’s movie “The Young Billionaires Club.” He then shot Ridley Scott’s “All the Money in the World.” With the film already assembled and ready for its premiere, several allegations of sexual harassment came to light that tarnished the image of the actor, who was vetoed and removed from the sets. Scott “knew” Spacey and re-filmed his scenes, replacing the stigmatized veteran performer with another actor.

Spacey returns to work on a British-Hungarian-Mongolian co-production about the life of Batu Khan, Mongolian leader, grandson of Genghis Khan and founder of the Blue Horde. The film is directed by Peter Soos. According to Indiewire, the actor will be joined by the likes of Christopher Lambert, Terence Stamps and Eric Roberts.

Fellow actor Anthony Rapp accused Spacey of sexually harassing him when he was a minor. Then came a cascade of complaints from other participants of the “House of Cards” series. Spacey then entered a clinic to treat his alleged sex addiction and started a legal battle that is now reaching its climax.
