The second edition of the International Course on Mediterranean Anthropology and Archeology led by José Ángel Ocharan Ibarra, again in the auditorium of Santomera City Hall, starts today and runs through Sunday. It is a course that is on its way to be consolidated in the offer of the Universidad del Mar (University of Murcia). The opening speech, ‘Anthropology and Archaeology’, will be given by Martín Almagro Gorbea, doctor of history, founder of the magazine ‘Complutum’ and academician of the Royal Academy of Doctors of Spain, among many other awards and titles. During these days they talk about ‘Art and Symbolic Thinking’ (María Haber Uriarte), ‘Time and Space in Iberian Religion. Archaeoastronomy perspective’ (César Esteban), ‘The role of firewood in the funeral ritual: effectiveness and symbolism’ (Mireia Celma Martínez), ‘Archeoastronomy and religiosity. Among others, the Venusian cults’ (Ivan Sparjc) and ‘Loca sacra in Iberian currency’ (M. Paz García-Bellido).
