The Blanca Bullfighting Fair offers eight festivities in August

Four incarcerations, three bullfights and a grooming competition in a program with the novillero Víctor Acebo

The city of Blanca will become the bullfighting capital of the region from August 11 to 15. The Archaeological Museum of Murcia organized on Friday the presentation of the II Bullfighting Competition ‘Villa de Blanca’. The event was attended by the Mayor of Blanca, Pedo Luis Molina; the councilor for celebrations, Vicente Candel; the businessman of Blanca’s bullring, Pedro Pérez Chicote, who is also from Calasparra; and the novillero Victor Acebo.

The businessman announced the posters of the fair, which are as follows: on the 13th, Jorge Martínez, from Murcia, and Marcos Linares, from Seville, who will fight oxen from Los Maños, a cattle ranch debuting in Blanca; on the 14th, Jaime González-Ecija, and the Murcian Víctor Acebo, with cattle from Pincha; and on Monday 15, the grand finale between the winners of the two novilladas, who will face Espartaco oxen, which will be presented as a rancher. On the 13th, 14th and 15th of the four bulls being fought at noon, there is a confinement at 10 a.m.

The traditional running of the bulls, declared of Regional Tourist Interest, will take place on Thursday the 11th from 3pm, and the four bulls of the groomer competition will be held. On Friday the 12th there is a grooming competition (8 pm) with four bulls from the herd of El Pizarral. Admission costs 12 euros (in advance) and 15 euros at the box office, and 10 euros for children up to 10 years old.

As for the three bullfights, the prices range from 8 to 25 euros, while the subscription costs between 15 and 60 euros, depending on whether it is barrier, general, retired, youth, children and special children. “The cheapest tickets in the region, along with those in Calasparra,” says Pérez Chicote.

The councilor for celebrations, Vicente Candel, after noting that “Blanca City Council is committed to the bullfighting market”, said that “50% of the posters are Murcian bullfighters, so we are asking the regional government for help.” Pérez Chicote, for his part, expressed his satisfaction “for creating a new sustainable product in the Autonomous Community of Murcia, such as this bullfighting that makes Blanca an exclusive and high-quality event.” The socialist mayor of Blanca requested institutional and economic support from the Community, chaired by Fernando López Miras (PP).
