The Calasparra City Council and the Chipe Producciones company presented this Monday evening the bullfights that will be held in the rice town at the end of July on the occasion of the festivities for its patron saints, San Abdón and San Senén. The act, which took place in the Casa de la Cultura de Calasparra, brought together, as is customary in this city with a great bullfighting tradition, a large group of fans who filled the auditorium.
The posters for the All Saints bullfight and the Silver Spike, a prestigious competition for bullfighters without pickaxes, were unveiled at the event. Two celebrations will take place on 30 and 31 July.
The businessman Pedro Pérez ‘Chicote’, manager of the company Chipé Producciones, was responsible for announcing the combinations. The bullfight on All Saints’ Day, on July 30, includes rejoneador Andy Cartagena, who will share a list with bullfighters David Fandila ‘El Fandi’; and Filiberto. Bulls from Benítez Cubero will fight for rejones, while for the fight on foot, four bulls will fight, billed as a herd competition, with different castes and irons: Pallarés, Juan Antonio Ruiz ‘Espartaco’, Albarreal and Fuente Ymbro.
On Sunday, July 31, a heifer fight without pickaxes will be held, which will help to salvage the Silver Spike, an important competition for novice bullfighters. The cartel consists of José Ángel Noguera ‘Angelín’ from Murcia, Samuel Navalón, García Palacios, Iván Rejas and Enrique Herreros. The cattle for this event will be of the iron of Martín Campos. Both festivities begin at 7 p.m.
At the table next to the businessman sat the mayor, Teresa García, who introduced the businessman and the local bullfighter Filiberto.
