Thousands of people tremble at the Cuesta del Batel with the Europe and Scorpions concerts, which concluded three intense days of metal at the Rock Imperium Fest
The thunderous screams of the thousands of people who enthusiastically bid farewell to the members of the famous German band Scorpions from the Cuesta del Batel, as they had done before with the equally legendary Swedish Europe, marked one of the milestones of Rock Imperium Fest last night in Cartagena. . A few meters from the harbour, where the musical offerings lasted until two a.m., the city took its third and final bath in heavy metal and rock during a three-day festival. It was also a mass bath, with a total of 40,000 people, according to the organization, in a city where appointments of this level are a true mirage.
Starting their performance after 10pm, Scorpions shook the crowd with a barrage of songs topped off by the ballad “Still Loving You” and the aka “Rock You Like a Hurricane.” Europe, which came out after eight, an hour late after changes that had nothing to do with it, prepared the ground with gems like the classic ‘Carrie’ and the closing fireworks: ‘The Final Countdown’. Outside the perimeter fence, in the area of the Carlos III wall, people were expected to climb onto benches, pivots and high areas of the UPCT campus to try and see something. Some went to the hill of Despeñaperros.
Twenty-one groups performed on the two stages of La Cuesta and the dock on Saturday. And the spectators, from all over Spain and from different countries, enjoyed a time without excessive heat and with a breeze. On the grassy esplanade people of all ages, including children and even babies in prams, lived together in a great atmosphere.
At the end of the festival, at 2 a.m., the organization announced that the second edition of Rock Imperium will take place on June 23 and 24, with British band Deep Purple as the first confirmation.
