The actress Mary Mara, known for her role in ‘ER’, has died according to American media as ‘EW’ at the age of 61 after drowning in a river in New York. Mara also made herself known in ‘Law and Order’, Ally McBeal or ‘Ray Donovan’

The officers who arrived on the scene, as well as ambulance services and local firefighters, found the body of a woman in the St. Lawrence River, who was later identified as Mara.

While the investigation continues, police have revealed that initial evidence suggests the actress may have drowned while swimming. A family spokesperson has revealed that Mara was staying at the summer home of her sister, Martha Mara, when the tragedy occurred.

In the popular medical series, Mary Mara played patient Loretta Sweet for nine of the 22 episodes of the second season (1995-1996). He also had two different roles in the series ‘New York Cops’ (NYPD Blue) and another two in the original version of the series ‘Law and Order’.

“Mary was one of the best actresses I’ve ever met,” her manager, Craig Dorfman, said in a statement to ‘EW’: “I remember seeing her on stage in ‘Mad Forest off Broadway’ in 1992. ‘. She was electric, funny and a unique person. We will miss her.”

With more than three decades of theater experience, her first big screen breakthrough came in the film Love Potion No. 9 (1992), with Sandra Bullock. However, her most remembered roles are due to television, where she brought Loretta Sweet to life in ER and appeared in critically acclaimed productions such as “Law and Order,” “Ally McBeal,” “Ray Donovan” or “Shameless.”
