Culture and leading record labels will promote the region’s new musical talents

Date:

The candidates to be part of the new musical shuttle Big Up! can submit papers until September 10

The Institute of Cultural Industries and the Arts (ICA) and the country’s major record labels will work together to promote the promotion of new emerging musical talent in the region. These companies, leaders in the international music industry, will partner with the regional government through the new music shuttle Big up!, featured as part of ‘Big Up! Region of Murcia’, to be held in March 2023, aims to launch phonograms, visibility, promotion, distribution and professionalization of a selection of emerging musical projects by artists in the region.

grand! It is aimed at musical projects that lack a manager, record label or professional advice of any kind, bearing in mind that each project is unique with specific needs and circumstances. They receive the support of personal attention that allows distribution with Crema Music, promotion and ‘coaching’ by Son Buenos, as well as the collaboration of notable music industry representatives such as Sony Music, Warner Chappel, BMG Spain and Altafonte, with specialist press such as the Mondosonoro and Radio 3 media, who will also participate in the selection and training advice.

As part of the working meetings for the launch of the shuttle, the ICA General Manager, Manuel Cebrián, met in Madrid with the directors of the main record labels in the country, with the aim of forging alliances in this area. The working meeting was attended by Gonzalo López Campos, Artists Management & Rights Participation of Sony Music Spain; Javier Navarro, A&R of Publishing and Recording at BMG Spain; Miguel Martorell, General Manager Southern Europe & Altafonte International; as well as Claudia Orellana and Tonny Serrano, founders of Son Buenos.

After the meeting, Manuel Cebrián stated that «ICA’s strategy for the promotion of live music has three main pillars: the Murcia Region Festivals brand, the network of concert halls and the promotion of emerging talent. Following this strategy, we work with the main record companies in the country to promote regional artists and guide them in launching their professional career, through the Lanzadera Project, in collaboration with Big Up!».

From next Monday and until September 10, any solo artist or band of any music style living in the region can register on the website sonbuenos.com. Entrants must submit their application with two songs recorded, mixed and mastered in WAV format, along with a short ‘bio’ and song information.

The artists undertake to follow the program in all its phases, including an initial training for all entrants, which will consist of consultations on who’s who in music; the musical phonogram; and publishing and musical promotion in social networks.

During the month of September, three musical projects will be selected, who will receive advice, prepare material for the distribution of their two phonograms and promotion with Son Buenos, who undertakes to accompany the artist in planning the releases (agenda, ‘ pitch’, communication), checking whether the phonograms meet certain minimum quality standards, and advising on the preparation of material for their distribution and release, ‘artwork’, video pieces, copyright registration, etc.
