The local music theater company will take audiences back to the 1920s this summer with its captivating new show.
Belfast Operatic presents its brand to a special musical production on May 7-8 at the recently renovated Hilton Hotel in Belfast.
F. Based on Scott Fitzgerald’s book, The Great Gatsby, the show invites you to a party where the story unfolds around you throughout the evening, including a three-course meal.
Inspired by the book, writer/director Gary Redbat said: “Theatrical events in this style are very popular in London, but they don’t happen very often here.
We have collected all the elements of our usual musical theater and removed them from the traditional theatre.
“The show will be performed in one round, giving the actors the freedom to relay the action to the audience where appropriate, making the audience love the show as well as the actors.”
He continued, “We took a classic and treated it to Buzz Lurman, using everything from modern pop hits to old classics and everything in between — and of course, given this style, it encourages audiences to dress up in the mood of the 1920s.”
With songs from the worlds of pop, film and musical theater, from Lady Gaga to Nat King Cole and Britney Spears – from Kiss Me Kate to Moulin Rouge, 40 powerful bands of actors sing and dance through the 1920s.
After two years of no live events, the company is very excited to launch a new style event that promises to entertain and impress the audience.
In November, a new award-winning company worked on the production of the award-winning new “Christmas Song” at the Grand Opera House.
Written specifically for the audience at the renovated Hilton, this unique adaptation of the classic Fitzgerald tale is not to be missed.
Tickets can be booked online at Visit Belfast, at the ticket office at the Visit Belfast Welcome Center or by calling 028 9024 6609.
