Eamonn Holmes considered the Academy Awards shocking moment when actor Will Smith took the stage and beat host Chris Rock.
While presenting GB News this morning, the Belfast anchor said it was confusing that Will Smith apparently laughed at anchor Chris Rock, who did so to his wife before he went upstage and hit her.
While discussing today’s hot topic with co-host Isabel Webster, Eamonn was confused when he said the Hollywood star was initially laughing at the joke.
“He really laughed at the joke and then it took him a while to reconsider,” Eamonn said.
The rock comedian targeted Smith’s charming wife, Jada Pinkett Smith, when she said, “Jada, I can’t wait for G.I. Jane 2 to arrive,” noting that he had shaved his head with a fly.
Last year, the 50-year-old actress spoke about her decision to shave her head due to alopecia.
When asked by the audience who the protagonist was and who the villain was at the controversial moment of the awards ceremony, Eamonn continued, “Basically, I agree with you, it’s very difficult. Maybe they can get rid of Will Smith. And I’ll take it, but you know it’s a member of his family or his son.” Or his wife, or anything not funny.
“Who wouldn’t do that?”
The presenters then talked about how Los Angeles-based Eamonn “wake up” and agreed on the following:
“Los Angeles is Vokeism Central, right?”
Isabelle replied, “Well, now it can’t be a joke so as not to be offended.
“We’ll see what they do about it. Who’s the protagonist and who’s the villain? Chris Rocky or Will Smith?” Eamonn added.
After the incident, Will Smith received a Best Actor Award for his role as tennis star Serena and father of Venus Williams in King Richard, in which he gave a speech apologizing to the Academy and “all my nominees”. But do not shake.
