More than sixty instrumentalists played great soundtracks of the seventh art in the open air
The Plaza del Ayuntamiento de Blanca, packed with people – some 800 people – hosted the opening ceremony of the 1st Music Festival in the Valley on Saturday evening, organized by the city council and with Víctor Cano as artistic director.
The Murcia Region Symphony Orchestra opened the festival with a repertoire based on film soundtracks from all eras. During the eighty-minute evening, well-known songs could be heard such as ‘El Padrino’ by Nino Rota; ‘Singing in the Rain’, by IH Brown; ‘ET’, by John Williams; ‘El Coup’, by Scott Joplin; or ‘The Mission’ by Ennio Morricone, among others. Clarinetist Ezequiel Sánchez, soloist of this last piece, received one of the rounds of applause of the evening.
Filling the stage with the presence of more than sixty musicians, the Symphony Orchestra of the Region of Murcia was conducted by its head, Virginia Martínez, who won the affection of the audience and had the violinist Darlin Dyle as one of its outstanding protagonists . Another moment of the night was the delivery of a painting by the painter Pedro Cano to Virginia Martínez, who emotionally thanked the artist for his gesture.
