El Cante de las Minas has all its semifinalists

Qualifiers move on to the grand final that will take place on Saturday, August 6.

The LXI Festival Internacional del Cante de las Minas already has semi-finalists. On August 3, 4 and 5, the ‘Catedral del Cante’ opens its doors to flamenco talent in the categories singing, acting, dance and instrumentation, to take the artists of the genre to the top after a visit to La Union, where the top trophies of the competition are contested: the ‘Bordón Minero’, the ‘Filón’, the male and female ‘Desplante’ and the coveted ‘Lámpara Minera’. The classified persons will advance to the grand final that will take place on Saturday 6 August.

The first semifinal, on Wednesday, August 3, features cante performances by Virginia Gámez Gil (Málaga), José García Vilches (Málaga), Isabel Guerrero Alarcón (Málaga), and Manuel Cuevas González (Seville); in dance by Álvaro Guarnido (Málaga) and Paula González (Seville); on guitar, Jesús Carbonell Jiménez (Navarra) and Martín Fallos Limón (Seville), and on instrumentation, Juan Fernando Pérez Feria (Madrid) on bass and Juan Diego Sáez Miranda (Córdoba) on sax.

The next day it’s the turn of María del Carmen González Vento (Huelva), Francisco Javier Heredia Fernández (Jaén), Rocío Belén Cuesta Espina (Huelva) and Baldomero Cortés Heredia (Almería) in the cante category; in dance, Julio González Ruiz (Almería) and Sandra Cisneros Cisneros (Málaga) participate; on guitar, Álvaro Mora Domínguez (Huelva) and José Marco Serrato Gómez (Seville); and in instrumentation Yusuke Morita (Japan) on bass and Irene Ortega Albadalejo (Cartagena) on cello.

Finally, in the semifinal on Friday, August 5, José León Márquez (Seville), Lucía Beltrán Sedano (Huelva), Esther Merino Pilo (Badajoz), José Plantón Heredia (Madrid) and José Olmo Carrasco (Seville) will perform in cante ; in dance, David Romero Cardoso (Seville) and Irene Lozano Ruiz (Málaga); on guitar, Carmelo Picón Camacho (Huelva), Daniel Mejía Carcaño (Seville), as well as the winner of the Getafe festival ‘Xatafi Flamenco’, Blas Martínez González (Murcia); and in line-up Rubén Jiménez Urbano (Córdoba) with bassoon, and Ángel Bocanegra Ocón (Granada) on violin.
