Calasparra restores the bullfight of the saints and the Silver Spike

Date:

Both festivities, taking place this weekend, and the Rice Fair in September, will take place in a portable square

Calasparra, after the coronavirus pandemic, is restoring the traditional bullfight of the Saints, San Abdón and San Senén. On this occasion, in addition to the bullfight, which will be mixed this year, the company Chipé Producciones will include in its programming the Golden Spike, a competition for bullfighters without bullfighters.

As for the bullfight on All Saints’ Day, this Saturday, July 30, it presents as a novelty the performance of the rejoneador Andy Cartagena, who will share a list with the bullfighters David Fandila ‘El Fandi’ and Filiberto. Bulls from Benítez Cubero will be fought, for rejones, while before the fight on foot a herd competition will be announced with four different encastes bulls belonging to the herds of Pallarés, Juan Antonio Ruiz ‘Espartaco’, Albarreal and Fuente Ymbro.

On Sunday, July 31, a bullfight will be held without pickaxes, salvaging the Silver Spike, with a poster featuring José Ángel Noguera ‘Angelín’ from Murcia, Samuel Navalón, García Palacios, Iván Rejas and Enrique Herreros. The cattle for this event will be of the iron of Martín Campos.

Both festivities will begin at 7 p.m. and will take place in a portable plaza, seating approximately 4,000 spectators, and not in La Caverina’s centenary arena.

On the other hand, the Rice Fair, one of the most important bullfighting fairs for heifers in Spain and which puts the prestigious Golden Spike trophy up for grabs, already has an appointment for its presentation, which will take place this Sunday at 1:00 pm , at the Casa de la Cultura de Calasparra.

The company represented by Pedro Pérez Chicote already announced at the time that the Rice Fair will host six pickaxe bullfights, which will be held between September 3 and 8 in the portable arena installed next to the football field. He also announced the irons of the farms that will be treated in the fertilizer, namely those of Barcial, Miura, Pincha, Saltillo, Prieto de la Cal and Fuente Ymbro.

A few days ago, there was a meeting between the company and the mayor Teresa García, with members of the Working Table, in which they agreed to present the Rice Fair on Sunday, coinciding with the celebrations for the patron saints, to give the final publicity combinations with the bullfighters who will contest the Golden Spike.
