The 81-year-old filmmaker suffered from pancreatic cancer
German director Wolfgang Petersen has died aged 81 at his home in Los Angeles, United States, Deadline magazine reported.
The maker of films such as ‘The Perfect Storm’, ‘The Neverending Story’ or ‘Troy’ passed away last Friday, August 12, from pancreatic cancer, although news of his passing came out on Tuesday.
The noted director rose to the top with the 1981 film The Submarine, which was nominated for six Oscars, including Best Director. In 2000, he published ‘The Perfect Storm’, a feature film starring George Clooney.
Four years later, ‘Troy’ came to light, starring Brad Pitt in the role of Achilles. His other internationally recognized films include ‘Poseidon’ and ‘Air Force One’.
